This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Lindsay Roginski.
Lindsay Roginski is an American actress, singer and dancer that critics have applauded for bringing a rare, old-time Broadway glamour to every role. Currently the principal singer in Steve Wynn's ShowStoppers at the Wynn in Las Vegas, she continues to captivate audiences with her talent and performances.
Recently, Roginski starred as Roxie Hart on Broadway in CHICAGO the Musical (2014) the National Tour and at Sacramento Music Circus. She also starred as Lola in Damn Yankees opposite Richard Kind. Off Broadway, she played the role of La Goulou/Antoinette in The Fartiste and was a feature in Heat Wave: The Jack Cole Project, directed and choreographed by Chet Walker, the creator of Fosse.
Other notable credits include One for My Baby starring Vivian Reed, Grease, 42nd Street, Godspell, Crazy for You, Closer Than Ever, My One and Only, Annie, and more. She recently made her New York cabaret debut at the prestigious Metropolitan Room, Iridium Jazz Club and 54 Below. She is currently working on her new cabaret show set to debut later this year.
Roginski was first trained by her grandmother, Eileen O’Day, a critically acclaimed big band jazz singer in the ‘30s and ‘40s who toured nationwide with a 52-piece orchestra. At a very early age, her grandmother taught her how to sing and play piano. She started dancing at age five. After graduating high school, she moved to New York to attend school at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
Her dream was to be in Chicago after she saw the production for the first time. "Chicago was my first Broadway show, I fell in love with it, it's the reason I moved to New York...to be in that show!" When she came across the opportunity to audition for the National Tour, she was first in line. She landed the role of Roxie Hart.
