This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with comedy legend Pete Barbutti. In this episode of Talk About Las Vegas, Pete talks about how he started in music and added comedy to his act; Shecky Greene’s influence on his thinking; why he decided to move to Las Vegas; his first experience on a Las Vegas stage; life on the road; and his relationship with Johnny Carson (and the impact of his Tonight Show appearances) and Steve Allen.

Ira, your interview with Pete Barbutti had me laughing in stitches. Couldn’t stop laughing. He is one great comedian and I was so great to hear his stories about the Tonight Show. As a forever fan of Johnny Carson I was so pleased to hear that Pete eventually had such a good relationship with Johnny. And hearing the name Arthur Godfrey brought back some happy memories. Many thanks for providing me and all your listeners such wonderful laughs.
