This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Pat Caddick, who has been involved in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas music scene for more than 30 years as a musician, arranger, orchestrator, producer, and director. In this 30-minute episode of Talk About Las Vegas, Caddick talks about his recent Facebook post that pointed out the large number of entertainment industry jobs affected by the shutdown of showrooms and lounges due to the coronavirus; how the shutdown has affected individual performers and their families; how people have stepped forward to help; ideas for bringing back entertainment options sooner rather than later; and his own career performing with some of the top names in the business.
Caddick has worked with artists such as Barbra Streisand, Melissa Etheridge, Kevin Costner, Maurice White and Philip Bailey (Earth Wind and Fire), Bobby Kimball, Jeff Porcaro, Michael Porcaro (Toto), The Pointer Sisters, Celine Dion, Brian McKnight, Wayne Newton, Siegfried & Roy, Danny Gans (on Broadway), Clint Holmes, Sheena Easton, Tower of Power, Billy Gilman, Helen Reddy, Alan Parsons, and many more.
He has scored films (Universal, Columbia Pictures, Golan Globus) as well as composing theme songs for TV (NBC, CBS).
Serving as a faculty member at USC School of Music in Southern California for 16 years, Caddick created a songwriting program that has produced a new generation of songwriters, film composers and Grammy winners.
He has written and arranged (with Emilio Castillo) for the Tower of Power album, “Soul Side of Town, released in 2018. It spent 5 weeks at # 1 on Billboard’s Jazz Charts.He has completed full orchestrations for Alan Parsons World Symphony tour as well as writing for the new Parsons Album, “The Secret” released in 2019. It reached # 1 in six countries.
