This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Eric E. Dahl.
Eric E. Dahl is author of “B.B. King’s Lucille and the Loves Before Her” a journey through B.B. King’s guitars and music gear from his youth through today.
Dahl’s fascination with guitar and the blues started at age 5. Both of his parents had exceptional taste in music and his father worked his way through college as a bass player. Dahl played music with many local bands through his formative years and after graduating high school moved to Nashville to pursue a degree in music at Belmont College. After one semester, he decided radio and television might be a more stable source of income, so he returned to the Midwest and achieved a BA in Mass Communications and a Music Minor in Jazz/Classical Guitar from Southeast Missouri State University.
His career in television has led him from working at a local FOX affiliate in Cape Girardeau, MO to pursuing promotions in Las Vegas NV and finally back to Nashville, all with the same company and spanning almost 30 years.
Dahl has been a performing musician and guitar collector for more than 40 years. He is a contributing editor for the Blue Book Publications and has written articles appear in numerous publications. He is also an Instrument Value Appraiser for music stores and pawnshops in Nashville and Las Vegas.
