This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Carolyn V. Hamilton, author of “HELP! I Married a Comedian, A memoir of life in the circus lane of marriage to a stand-up comedian.” In this 30-minute episode of Talk About Las Vegas, Hamilton talks about meeting comedians Cork Proctor during a unique time in Las Vegas history (who promised her that their life together would never be boring); her marriage and subsequent divorce (and subsequent living together in Cuenca, Ecuador); the exciting days of traveling together (including as members of the Peace Corps); her decision to write an honest book about their life together, including verbal abuse; and what she learned about life and love.
Hamilton is a multi-genre author, workshop leader, and success coach for memoir writers. Professionally trained as an illustrator and graphic designer, she spent more than three decades working in Las Vegas as a marketing executive and copywriter in the real world of “Mad Men.”
A graduate of Antioch University Seattle, her other adventures have included two years’ service as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer and a stint (in her “younger days”) as a Playboy Bunny.
When Hamilton is not traveling, she resides in Cuenca, Ecuador.
