This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Billy Gilman.
Billy Gilman will be performing in the Orleans Showroom April 22-23 at 8 p.m.
At 12 years old, Gilman broke records with his debut album “One Voice,” which became certified double-platinum and made him the Guinness Book of World Records’ youngest artist to ever reach #1 on the Billboard Top Country Album charts. Gilman has sold more than 500 million albums and became the youngest solo artist to ever receive a Grammy nomination.
With the popularity of his first single “One Voice” and Top-40 hit “Oklahoma,” Gilman won the American Music Award for “Favorite New Country Artist” in 2001. Gilman went on to release two more albums, including “Dare to Dream,” which featured favorites like “She’s My Girl” and “Elisabeth.”
Gilman burst back into the music scene when he introduced his new sound to fans on NBC’s 11th season of “The Voice.” He reached the season finale with the help of his coach, Adam Levine of Maroon 5.
