This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Alan Glist and Kathi Glist, producers of Menopause The Musical® and the Bronx Wanderers at Harrah’s Las Vegas. In this 30-minute episode of Talk About Las Vegas, the Glists talk about the impact of coronavirus on the entertainment industry; the future of live entertainment in Las Vegas; why Menopause The Musical® is so successful; why they decided to move to Las Vegas and then discovered a community beyond the Strip; and their involvement in local causes, including the TCS Entertainment Community Relief Fund (see below link to The Composers Showcase).
The Glists began their theatrical producing careers with “Fiddler On The Roof,” “Oliver,” “The King & I” and “The Rothschilds.” They followed with their Off Broadway sensation, “I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change.”
In 2001 the Glists helped develop what became the Off Broadway sensation, Menopause The Musical®, and have been proudly producing this phenomenon ever since. This show has now been seen by nearly 11 million people worldwide. In Las Vegas, it has played more than 5000 performances (14 years) and is now the longest running musical in Las Vegas history. Menopause The Musical® has played in more than 450 cities throughout North America and 13 countries. It has been translated into seven languages.
With their newly formed company, Glist Entertainment, the couple also produce The Bronx Wanderers, performing nightly at the LINQ.
