This week, Ira Sternberg spoke with Dan Roberts, publisher and editor of The Vegas Voice, the largest “Age 50+” monthly publication in Nevada. In this episode of Talk About Las Vegas, Dan talks about his move to Las Vegas and his entry into publishing that filled a void in the market; why “senior” is a state of mind; how a cruise turned into a crusade for guardianship reform; why “Death With Dignity/Final Wishes options in Nevada” is important; and the appeal of Las Vegas to seniors.
Dan Roberts is the Publisher and Editor of The Vegas Voice, the largest “Age 50+” monthly publication in Nevada. The publication began in March 2003 as “Senior Life” and is now in its 19th year of being the “voice for your health, wealth and good times.”
Along with his (partner in love and life, Vegas Voice Political Editor, Rana Goodman, Dan began a five-year campaign to expose, investigate and reform the Nevada Guardianship industry.
For their efforts, they received the Nevada Freedom of the Press Award from the Nevada Press Association and were recognized by the North American Mature Publishers Association (NAMPA) for their guardianship efforts.
Additionally over the previous five years, Roberts received a total of 11 awards for his editorials and senior issue, as well as The Vegas Voice receiving the General Excellence Award for the past five years.
In July 2022, the Las Vegas City Council awarded both Rana and Dan “Citizen of the Month” as well as a proclamation naming July 20, “Dan Roberts & Rana Goodman Day.”
